City of Westlake Village awards $50,000 in grants

The city of Westlake Village recently awarded community service grants totaling $50,000 to the following organizations "that provide specialized social services and cultural programs to local residents," according to city officials.

A citizen’s advisory committee appointed by the city council reviewed and screened all of the submitted proposals then forwarded a series of recommendations to the council.

Organizations receiving funding for this year include the following: Agoura High School (humanities class, music program), ALS Association, Assistance League of Conejo Valley, Conejo Free Clinic, Conejo/Las Virgenes Future Foundation, Conejo Valley Historical Society, Conejo Valley Art Museum, Conejo Youth Employment Service, Friends of the Westlake Village Library, Hospice of the Conejo, Interface Children Family Resources, Lindero Canyon Middle School (drama, choral and music, band), Livingston Memorial Visiting Nurse Association, Los Robles Master Chorale, New West Symphony, The Retired Officers’ Association, The Wellness Community, Triunfo YMCA, Villa Esperanza Services, Village Voices Chorale, Westlake Village Meals on Wheels and White Oak Elementary School (Ellis Island project, fine arts program).

Appropriations for the Community Service Grant program were included in the fiscal year 2001-02 budget.
