Spaceships, giant shark caught on film

      A local mother and son were paying a recent visit to the Steven Spielberg Pediatric Center in Calabasas when spaceships and menacing figures with flashlights chased them all the way to the ocean where a giant shark showed the couple its tonsils, up close and personal. The chase led to a nearby cave complete with a giant, rolling boulder ala "Indian Jones," and finished back in the pediatric center where a Tyrannosaurus Rex was about to rip the roof off of the building.

Village Voices sings the praises
     SCHOLARSHIP WINNERS-Village Voices Director Gloria Hilliard, left, and Voices President Pat Johnson, right, award California Lutheran University student Monica Jones a $1,000 scholarship to pursue her career in vocal music. Jones studies voice and sings in the Cal Lutheran choir. Red Oak fear factor: Principal kisses a pig
     OINK IF YOU'RE HAPPY--Red Oak Elementary School Principal Sondra Rosenthal is shown above kneeling by a tree to kiss Gooey the pig. Rosenthal promised to kiss the 200-pound oinker if the Red Oak students raised $10,000 in the school's first Jog-A-Thon. Lucky for the charity (and the kids, no doubt), Rosenthal lost the bet. After the event, Gooey decides that smooching with humans isn't all it's cracked up to be. Proceeds from the Jog-A-Thon will be used to upgrade computers and other technology at the school in Oak Park Unified School District.

During a presentation at the Agoura Hills school last Friday, the group played several traditional instruments and performed some of country's favorite dances. The Brazlian culture is rich in song and dance.
