Calabasas summer camp offers dramatic possibilities for youth Calabasas summer camp offers dramatic possibilities for youth Marlon Hoffman
Youth ages 7 to 16 with an interest in acting, art, filmmaking and animation may attend a complete film school camp in one and two-week sessions from June 17 to Aug. 23 presented by Marlon Hoffman Actors Institute and Celluloid Heroes Movie Camp. Based in Calabasas, camps are also located in Thousand Oaks and Westlake Village. Interested families are invited to attend an Open House from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. this Sat., May 11 at 25000 Mureau Road, Calabasas. Children interested in performing can chose a program that will allow them to create their own character and interact with other characters on a real movie set. Participants will learn specialized film acting techniques, improvisation and theatre games, character creation and more. Those interested in "behind the camera" work can choose a production program where they’ll handle cameras and write and produce their own cartoons, animated and silent films. Hoffman heads the acting programs. He has taught acting in St. Louis, New York, Los Angeles and coached professional actors on set. Brad Koepenick, a professional actor/writer and educator, heads up the production camps. For more information on "A Summer in Cinema" camps, call (818) 222-9588 or visit the Web site at www.moviesbykids.com. |
