Local mayors to meet

The Conejo/Las Virgenes Future Foundation will host its annual "Mayor’s Forum" at 7:30 a.m., Thurs., May 16 in the City Council Chambers of Agoura Hills City Hall, 30001 Ladyface Court, Agoura Hills.

Mayors from Calabasas, Westlake Village and Agoura Hills are expected to attend as well as representatives of the mayors from Hidden Hills and Thousand Oaks. In addition, representatives from the Oak Park and Ventu Park municipal advisory councils (MAC) have been invited to participate.

"The Mayor’s Forum is a rare opportunity for the leadership of our region to assemble and discuss issues of common interest and concern," said Dennis Washburn, chairman of the event. He’s also a former mayor and incumbent city councilman for Calabasas.

"It’s also a chance for the public and the press to ask questions and gain further understanding of regional challenges that are not unique to any one city," Washburn said.

Each mayor will present a brief summary of their city’s status and plans. They’ll have additional support from their respective city managers, who have also been invited.

Potential topics include transportation issues, families and youth programs, the needs of seniors, opportunities for inter-city cooperative efforts, housing issues, business matters and concerns about open space management.
