Trail run helps victims

The first running of the "Malibu Creek Trail Challenge" on Sat., April 13 attracted 530 athletes to run in Malibu Creek State Park.

The Trail Runners Club raised more than $11,000 for children who lost a parent in the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks. The money will go to the Kiwanis 911 Victims Children’s Fund.

Damon Lyman passed Alan Villavicencio 50 yards before the finish line to win the 14-mile race. Anissa Seguin was the first female finisher in the 14-miler.

Steve McQuaiele won the four-mile race, and Trail Runners Club member Paige Marino was the first female finisher. All the results may be viewed via the Internet at www.trailrunnersclub.com.
