Women’s club to celebrate state history

Westlake Women’s Club will celebrate California History Month during their monthly meeting beginning 10 a.m. on Tues., May 14 at Westlake Inn, 32001 Agoura Road, Westlake Village.

A luncheon follows at noon.

Guest speaker Nicholas Curry has assembled large manuscripts on prominent early California families including those of Otis Chandler, Harry Huntington, J. Paul Getty, William R. Hearst and William Mulholland.

He researched the material for the book, "Dark Side of Fortune: Triumph and Scandal in the Life of Oil Tycoon Edward L. Doheny," by Margaret Leslie Davis. He will discuss "Money, Mansions and Murder," about the Doheny estate.

Guests are welcome. The luncheon cost is $18.
