Post office to host a food drive

For the 10th year, the U.S. Postal Service and its letter carriers will collect food donations from postal customers across the country in the "Stamp Out Hunger" food drive on Sat., May 11.

Local post offices will be participating in the event.

Area residents are requested to leave nonperishable, unopened foods next to their mailboxes for letter carriers to pick up on that date.

The food will stay in the community and be distributed to food banks and local charities including church food pantries, shelters, senior centers and abused women’s or children’s homes.

Additionally, postal customers may bring nonperishable food into the lobby of area post offices and leave it in the large bins that will be there for food collection.

For more information, the public is encouraged to visit their local post office or ask their letter carrier.
