Picnic coming

United Parents will host its third annual family picnic from noon to 4 p.m. on Sun., May 19 at Tierra Rejada Ranch, 3370 Moorpark Road, Moorpark. Activities include face painting, sumo suits, carnival-type games, arts and crafts, rock-climbing wall, an animal show, silent auction, raffle and music including a performance by Riders of the Purple Sage.

Advance tickets are $5; otherwise $7 on the day of the picnic. Ticket purchases include food and activities.

United Parents was established 12 years ago to provide parent-to-parent support, information, education and referrals to families with children in crisis.

They help families understand and work with the mental health, special education, juvenile justice and protective services systems through monthly meetings, a bimonthly newsletter and workshops.
