Spaying, neutering isn’t stressed enough February is "National Prevent a Litter Month" throughout the U.S. The Los Angeles County Department of Animal Care and Control encourages all pet owners to participate. "The heaviest breeding season is the spring," said department director Marcia Mayeda. "We’re hoping all Los Angeles County residents will join us in preventing litters by having their pets spayed and neutered. Working together we can make a difference in the number of puppies and kittens born each year." The department also reminds residents to visit one of the six county animal shelters if they are considering adopting a pet. All animals adopted from county animal shelters have initial vaccinations, are spayed and neutered and have been implanted with an identification microchip. The local shelter is at 29525 Agoura Road, Agoura Hills; please calll (818) 991-0071 for more information. |
