The Oaks Christian boys’ basketball team stayed unbeaten on the season, at 21-0, when it defeated Nordhoff, 55-50, Tuesday, in a game played in Westlake Village. Michael Hornbuckle, who leads the Lions with a per-game average of 13.0 points, led OCHS with 20 points and Aron Cline, who averages 9.2 per game contributed 12 if first.
Eagles in first
The Oak Park boys’ basketball team began this week of play with a record of 6-0, good for first place in the Tri-Valley League and 17-6 overall in the first year under head coach Ed Chevalier. The Eagles defeated Fillmore last Friday, 71-40, behind 19 points from Grant Smith and 13 points from Nick Smith.
The Oak Park girls also stayed unbeaten in the Tri-Valley League when they defeated Fillmore, 82-28, Tuesday night, in Oak Park. The Eagles improve to 9-0 (15-10 overall) as Shir Raanan led with 20 points, Jamie Rauchwarger added 16, Michelle Bregar had 11, and Jannel Buckley had 10.

Lindsey Medders, a Westlake resident who plays for Harvard-Westlake as a junior this season, has hit 11 of her last 15 3-point shot attempts (73 percent) including five against Alemany in a recent win in which she scored 18 points.
