Vote no on H

I moved to Agoura in 1979 and fell in love with the small-town atmosphere. I became active in my homeowners’ association, and after a few years Agoura became a city. Along with a group of neighbors and friends I became active with the city.

Twenty-three years later, I’m mad as hell. Why? Measure H.

Recent election filing reports show that three businesses, Agoura Equipment Rental, California Do-It Center, and Roadside Lumber & Hardware Inc. have contributed nearly $93,000 for the Measure H campaign. That is nearly 99 percent of all money raised by the Citizens for Responsible Growth.

Let’s get real. An election every time a developer wants to build a building over 60,000 square feet. We can’t even get registered voters out to vote on the presidential elections! The turnout is under 20 percent.

Who will pay for these elections? The taxpayers?

We have a wonderful city council and planning commission. Why do you want to take the decision out of their hands? I certainly don’t. You can call any of our city councilmembers or the planning commissioners at city hall. Some are even listed in the phone book. They listen. They represent you. And do a darn good job doing it.

Please join me in voting no on Measure H.
