New diagnostic scanner coming to Thousand Oaks Another patient relaxes, prepares to benefit from an EBT diagnostic test
VITASCAN, an Electron Beam Tomography (EBT) scanner, will be at The Oaks Mall, 222 W. Hillcrest Drive, Thousand Oaks, next week. An open house with free tours to the public will be held from noon to 3:00 p.m. on Sat., Feb. 2. Scans will be available from Feb. 4-9. The cost is $995 per patient. VITASCAN can detect early stage cancer and heart disease, the biggest killers of both men and women in the United States. The procedure is noninvasive, nonclaustrophobic and takes about 10 minutes to perform. VITASCAN’s Open EBT technology provides precision three-dimension color images of the heart, lungs, colon, and other vital organs with digital clarity. Scans are reviewed by both a board-certified cardiologist and a board-certified radiologist who work together to ensure the accuracy and integrity of each examination and the appropriate follow-up care. VITASCAN representative, Dan Parker, explained, "We are excited about bringing this valuable service to The Oaks. Our mobile capability allows us to bring this revolutionary technology directly into the patients’ communities. "We have had so much interest from the Conejo Valley residents, we chose this location as our first priority for 2002."
