Bicycle club has a PR problem

CONFRONTATION––Parents of children who attend Westlake Elementary School, above left, argue with bicyclists, right, about proper behavior during a showdown last Saturday. More than 200 bicyclists who participate in the Simi Valley route, organized by a group from Amgen, a major employer in Thousand Oaks, use the school campus as a scheduled rest stop. Unfortunately, some of the riders have been using the campus for urinating, below left. The principal of the school offered to open the restrooms for a nominal fee, sources said, but the bicyclists refused. Urinating in public is, of course, against the law. It remains unresolved, but the bicycling group has a PR problem.
