Ahmanson Ranch proposal defended
      It seems to me that, when it comes to housing, three of our biggest problems are: (1) a growing shortage of both low income and middle income homes, (2) urban sprawl (Webster defines sprawl as "to spread out or distribute irregularly" and (3) preserving pristine habitat.

Let’s keep the wildlife corridor intact
      I recently read in The Acorn a letter by Ron Troncatty supporting several candidates for city council. In it, he spoke about a "land swap" he supports by trading the Heschel school site behind his home on Chesebro Road in Old Agoura with the former Carpeteria property off Liberty Canyon.

The defeat of this measure allows the Westlake Village Inn to remain competitive with surrounding cities with respect to fair occupancy taxes without any reduction in city services.

Speed humps revisited
      In the Nov. 1 issue a reply to my comments of Oct. 18 was published. First I will have to admit that indeed I do not live on Adamor, but on Farmfield. However, for all the residents in this area, the only choice to get in or out of this area is via Adamor. Therefore, all affected residents should have had a chance for a vote on that matter.

Rotary Clubs, others praised
      During October, Breast Cancer Awareness Month, five Rotary Clubs in the Conejo Valley, in an alliance with the Conejo Free Clinic, joined together in a project called "Bear Hugs for Mammo-grams" and raised money so women in financial need could receive a free annual mammogram. Over 400 bears were given as thank-you gifts for donations.

      The generosity that America has bestowed on those families that suffered from the Sept. 11 tragedy has been marvelous. It has shown that greatness of America is not in its institutions, but in its people.
