Instruction underway at Jewish Academy

The Conejo Jewish Academy will commence its fall semester of courses on Mon., Oct. 22. Located at 30345 Canwood St., Agoura Hills, the academy offers adult education and courses to the community at large on a wide variety of Judaic subjects. A sampling of courses follows.

Classes typically run from two to eight weeks and registration fees range from $10 to $25. Some classes, such as the course on basic Judaism titled "Think Jewish," offered at 8 p.m. Tuesdays beginning Oct. 23, is free of charge.

"Tapestry of Life" blends the spiritual, practical, philosophical, ritual and historical aspects of Judaism; offered 8 p.m. Mondays beginning Oct. 22; fee $25.

"The Crown of Creation" focuses on the lives of great Biblical women; offered at 8 p.m. Tuesdays beginning Oct. 30; fee $18.

"Hebrew in Five Easy Lessons" for beginners meets 8 p.m. Wednesdays beginning Oct. 31; fee $18.

"Mystic Quest," the study of the mystical aspects of Judaism (Kabbalistic teachings and philosophy) is at 8 p.m. Thursdays beginning Oct. 25; fee $25.
