Cal Lutheran offers business scholarships, internships

Three area financial planning businesses have joined with California Lutheran University’s (CLU) Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) program to offer a new scholarship/internship opportunity for MBA students in the Certified Financial Planner (CFP) certificate program.

DTS Financial Group in Ventura, Mark Kamerman of American Express in Simi Valley and Business Consultants Group of Westlake Village will award full scholarships to qualifying students in exchange for internship work in the company.

The merit-based scholarship provides the student with a free MBA and three years of experience in financial planning with an endorsing company.

The program also provides the possibility for long-term employment and a jumpstart on obtaining the CFP credential and other insurance licenses.

Students must attend the MBA Financial Planning Program at Cal Lutheran University (CLU) in Thousand Oaks.

Other requirements vary depending on which company is providing the scholarship. Applications for CLU’s Financial Planning Scholars will be accepted on a rolling basis. The MBA in Financial Planning is the newest emphasis offered in the MBA program at CLU. The program, which has been approved by the Certified Financial Planning Board of Standards, prepares students to sit for the CFP credentialing exams.
