Methodists use film to help illustrate sermons

Pastor Rob Calderhead continues his August Film Fest message emphasis at the 9 and 10:30 a.m. worship services on Sun., Aug. 19 at United Methodist Church of Westlake Village, 1049 Westlake Blvd., Westlake Village. Using a different motion picture each week this month, movie clips will be shown to illustrate the Gospel message of God’s love for all people. The film this week will be "Cast Away."

Associate pastor Stephen Hansted Meadors will speak at the casual 8 a.m. service. The Covenant Ringers will play at the 9 and 10:30 a.m. services. Sunday School classes for all ages meet at 9 a.m. A video series for adults, "From Jesus to Christ," meets at 10:30 a.m. in Alton Hall. Child care is provided.

The 120 first to eighth grade participants of "Pizazz 2001 Goes Hollywood" will present a performance of singing, ringing and dancing at 7 p.m. on Fri., Aug. 17 in the sanctuary. All are invited to this free program.
