New ideas are being offered to help parents

Staying involved in children’s lives is the first step in keeping them away from drugs. That’s the message of the national campaign that provides ideas on how parents and caregivers can use their greatest strengths––love and concern for their children’s well-being––to help avoid problem behaviors.

The campaign, developed by Metropolitan Life Foundation in conjunction with the Partnership for a Drug-Free America, is specifically targeted to parents and caregivers with children ages 9 to 13.

Through this initiative, parents can receive a helpful booklet, How to Be a Better Parent: A Guide to What Works and Why. Topics in the booklet include How to Set Clear Rules, How to Praise and Reward, How to Stay Actively Involved and more.

To receive a free copy of the How to Be a Better Parent booklet, call (800) 638-5433 or visit the Web site at www.metlife.org.
