Coyotes hope to repeat

After winning the 1999 Division IV CIF championship, the Calabasas Coyote girls’ tennis team, with an overall record of 14-0 and league record of 4-0, seems to be on their way to another title.

Under the direction of captains Jackie Yano and Andrea Leewong, and Head Coach Bill Bellatty, the team has been unstoppable.

With three matches left in the season, two of which are league encounters against Nordhoff and Malibu, and the final match against Agoura, the lady Coyotes could have an undefeated record.

Whipping most of their opponents 18-0, including last Thursday against Santa Paula, the Coyotes will have another winning season. The team has brought in freshmen Monica Weisner and Celia Durkin, both of whom have made a major contribution toward the team’s success.

With a dominant overall singles record of 104-1, the lady Coyotes are consistently showing that they’re again a championship caliber team.

Their goal on Nov. 3 is to win individual league finals to qualify for CIF postseason play.
