Benefit concert coming next week

Contemporary Catholic musician Tom Franzac will present a benefit concert, "Saints: In Their Own Words," at 7:30 p.m. on Fri., Nov. 3 at St. Maximilian Kolbe Catholic Church, 5801 Kanan Road, Westlake Village.

In "Saints" Franzac sets to music the writings of 10 saints of the Western Church and two modern-day Catholics, accompanying himself on instruments including a dobro, electronic keyboard, modified autoharp and fretless bass. Musical styles in his performance range from pop to Celtic, reggae to Latin.

Tickets are $10. All proceeds from Franzac’s show will be donated to the JNCL Research Fund to help find a cure for Juvenile Batten Disease, a rare neuromuscular degenerative disorder that strikes school-aged children. It has no treatment and no cure.
