     SUPPORT TEAM - Acorn readers celebrate Deena Drossin's showing at the recent Olympic track and field trials in Sacramento. Drossin, a 1991 Agoura High graduate, qualified in both the 5,000 and 10,000 meters. Deena is in Sydney, Australia this week for the start of the Olympic games.

     GENE DOWD/The Acorn OFF AND RUNNING - Oak Park's Igor Tregub finished in third place with a time of 18:05 at last week's Oak Park Cross Country Classic, the school's first major meet of the year. Adam Smith finished first at 17:10 to give Maranatha the overall win. The Oak Park High School team finished in second place, followed by Malibu. Lauren Morales was Oak Park's top female finisher.

Shorthanded Oak Park has impressive debut

      There were just 48 clicks left on the clock last Friday at Oak Park High School. Down 12-10 to El Segundo, the Eagles needed a score to salvage the game. They were just 13 yards from paydirt. Desperate times call for desperate measures. Offensive coordinator Brian Crum called the halfback option pass. Running back Eric Testan had assured his coach he could complete it. QB Brendon Anderson pitched the ball to Testan and the senior running back faked a sweep to the left side. El Segundo
