Pierce offers classes on gardening
      Los Angeles Pierce College Extension is offering a class designed to help participants learn about the types of plants, trees and ground covers (other than grass) that are available at local nurseries, and discover how to use them for gardens, patios, hedges, hillside and erosion control.

Library offers summer reading fun
      LISA ADAMS/The Acorn READING PROGRAM 2000 - Calabasas resident Jonathan Ku, left, illustrates an optical illusion using a card that has a fish on one side and a fish bowl on the other. Ed Shevick, retired science teacher, tells Jonathan to spin the card as fast as he can which creates an illusion of the fish swimming in the bowl.
