Logan is just one of about 80 kindergarten through fifth-grade children who enjoy summer daycamps sponsored by Rancho-Simi Recreation Park District. Who needs Universal Studios when you can learn about the history and special effects of the movies right here in Agoura at Paramount Ranch during a semi-weekly Saturday morning program offered by the National Park Service?
      Last Saturday, the program "From Set to Screen" attracted about 40 people, ranging from children to senior citizens, all of whom were delighted to learn about the entertainment era to which they could relate.

      Conejo Valley Senior Concerns officially launched a $1.5 million fundraising campaign earlier this summer to pay for the expansion of its Thousand Oaks Fitzgerald Senior Day Support Center. The expansion will double the size and services of the Fitzgerald Center, which currently provides daily support for frail and special needs seniors.

The joy of tree planting
     CHUCK ROGERS/The Acorn RESIDUAL BENEFITS STILL ARRIVING - Planting a 12-foot tree on the campus of Agoura High School (AHS) are (left to right): Sandy Thomas, Elaine McCreary, Larry Misel, Nancee Baldino and Jan Lee. Money to purchase the tree came from surplus funds of Sober Grad Night. Seniors from the Class of 2000 generated money during fundraisers last spring and the Beautification Committee got the excess. Thomas is co-chairwoman of the group and Misel is principal of AHS.
