Agoura fares well in
PINTO 'B' WINS - The Agoura Pony Baseball Pinto "B" all-star team swept all four of its games to win the annual Rancho Las Virgenes Tournament at the Lupin Hill fields in Calabasas. Team members are: Matt Aranow, Alec Arsht, Cameron Austin, Peter Covert, Kyle Dugandzic, Dylan Fraychineaud, Drew Kuban. Danny Piper, Logan Rouse, Cody Skene, Sean Sweeney, Garrett Watson, Cory Wilson and John Zeola. Rick Piper, Wes Fraychineaud and Matt WIlson are the coaches.
Las Virgenes tournament
Half of the 10 Agoura teams entered in the seventh annual Rancho Las Virgenes Invitational Baseball Tournament were crowned champions.
Teams from Westlake, Camarillo, Newbury Park, West Hills, Santa Susana, Malibu and Sunrise competed in the recent tournament, hosted by Agoura Pony Baseball.
Agoura beat West Hills, 6-4 in the championship game of the Bronco B division. Agoura outscored its five opponents 61-7. The Bronco A squad also beat West Hills in a title game, 10-3.
Both Mustang teams were winners. Mustang A won four games by a combined score of 46-14, including an 11-4 win over Camarillo for the championship.
Mustang B defeated Santa Susana, 14-4.
The Pinto B division beat Sunrise "B," 8-4, and finished 4-0 in the tournament. Agoura’s Pony A team, the top-notch older boys, lost to Newbury Park in the semifinals, 12-10.
Most of the games were played at the Lupin Hill complex in Calabasas. Others took place at Indian Springs Park in Oak Park and at Old Agoura Park in Agoura Hills.
