Civil-minded councilman lends a hand
LISA ADAMS/The Acorn SPACECRAFT RACES - Using Chumash Park as ''mission control,'' Chris Weber, 8, Skyler Badakhsh, 8, and Denis Weber, pack master and Agoura Hills City Councilman, get ready to launch a round of racing during Pack 227's Space Derby 2000. The space derby is similar to the traditional scout Pinewood Derby except that the models are miniature proeller-driven, rubber-band powered "rockets." They worked, the councilman said, most of the time. First place (for "Champion of the Universe") was awarded to Pascal Combes-Knoke, second place, "Dominator of the Galaxy," went to Bryan Chavez, 8, and Michael Pearlman, 8, or "Defender of the Solar System," finished third.
