All sides are guilty of being rude at social gatherings
      I, as well as Mr. Johnson, attended the Senior Awards Night at Calabasas High School on June 14. This was my first year at the high school, and I was looking forward to the assembly as an opportunity to see students be recognized and to present awards in journalism to four outstanding students.

Those who helped worthy cause are offered gratitude
      On June 8 and 9, the students of White Oak Elementary [Westlake Village] were invited to participate in a collection drive for an organization called "Books for the Barrios," a nonprofit, all volunteer organization that delivers mass quantities of quality educational materials, procured from donor individuals and the discards of U.S. public school districts to the most remote disadvantaged schools in developing countries.

Please don’t kill the good snakes
      In the last few weeks there have been at least two cases of people killing rare California Mountain Kingsnakes, mistaking them for venomous coral snakes.
