Free bluegrass concert coming

Southern Californian bluegrass music will be featured in a free concert at 2 p.m. on Sun., July 9 at Peter Strauss Ranch in Agoura.

The band, Peter Feldmann and the Very Lonesome Boys, includes Feldmann on mandolin, bassist Tom Lee and guitarist Mike Mullins, with David West on banjo. Lee, West and Mullins are known for their work with the progressive bluegrass group, the Cache Valley Drifters, while Tommy Marton hails from Texas contest fiddling tradition.

Visitors are encouraged to come early, bring a picnic lunch and enjoy the shade and bucolic setting of the lawn area while waiting for the music to begin.

The concert will be performed under the oaks. It’s presented by the National Park Service in cooperation with the Topanga Banjo Fiddle Contest & Folk Festival, Inc.

To reach Peter Strauss Ranch from the Conejo Valley, exit the 101 freeway at Kanan Road and travel south 2.8 miles to a left on Troutdale Drive to Mulholland Highway. Turn left on Mulholland then right under the arch into the parking lot. Walk back across the bridge on Mulholland and enter the main gate onto the ranch property. Parking is free.
