Holiday travel advisory issued for Grapevine

Caltrans is advising motorists traveling over the Fourth of July weekend to be prepared for traffic delays in both directions of the Golden State Freeway (I-5) between Route 138 and the Kern County line through the Grapevine area in Gorman.

Due to ongoing bridge repair work, the freeway is reduced to two lanes in both directions at Route 138/Quail Lake, Gorman Road and Frazier Mountain Park Road.

Congestion on northbound I-5 is expected to begin 11 a.m. Fri., June 30 and continue until 11 p.m. that night. On Sat., July 1, motorists can expect delays through the Grapevine between 6 a.m. and 4 p.m. On Independence Day, Tues., July 4, motorists may encounter traffic congestion in both directions during the afternoon.
