Calabasas thespian to perform benefit concert

Twelve-year-old Calabasas resident Jacqueline Rosenthal will present "Memories, A Concert" on Wed. evening, March 17 at the Madrid Theatre, 21622 Sherman Way, Canoga Park. The concert is a benefit to raise money for both the Alzheimer’s Association and the Golden Performing Arts Center.

Golden Performing Arts Center is a nonprofit theatre organization that produces live theatre for children, teens and adults. Rosenthal has appeared in their productions.

The theme of the concert is "Creating memories and preserving them forever."

"My theatre and acting experiences have given me some of my most special memories that I never want to forget," said Rosenthal. "The thought that these memories could be erased by such a terrible disease as Alzheimer’s is horrifying to me. It’s just so unfair. Something has to be done to stop this disease."

Written and produced by Rosenthal, the event will be a Broadway musical review featuring talented youth as well as professional performers and Broadway stars. Rosenthal is an actress/singer who has already appeared in more than 25 musical productions and this spring will appear in Cabrillo Music Theatre’s production of "Ragtime" in the Kavli Theatre at the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza.

The show will feature Grammy nominated saxophonist Dave Koz, Broadway performers and vocalists Jane Lanier, Kevin Bailey and Rachelle Dobin and stage and screen stars Robert Townsend and Chelsea Field.

Doors will open at 7 p.m. with a private VIP reception at 6 p.m. There will be a raffle drawing at intermission with prizes donated by local merchants, restaurants and hotels.

Tickets are $30 general admission, $60 reserved VIP seating, which includes the VIP reception.

Advance reservations are required and can be made by calling (888) 687-6366.
