Temple Beth Haverim to host Purim events

At 7 p.m. Sat., March 6, Temple Beth Haverim will host Purim services and a reading of the Megillah at the temple, 29900 Ladyface Court, Agoura Hills. Hamantaschen and other treats will be served. The event is free and open to the community.

On Sun., March 7 the temple will host its eighth annual Purim Carnival in conjunction with its second annual Shop Israel Fair. Both events will run from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Red Oak Elementary School, 4857 Rockfield St., Oak Park. Admission is free, and the events will go on rain or shine.

Children’s rides will include a large slide, "the human whirl," a dunk tank and a moon bounce. Additionally, the carnival will feature games and prizes, rock climbing, arts and crafts and kosher food. Musical entertainment will be provided by a live DJ and the Shir Haverim Children’s Choir.

Raffle prizes will be chosen every hour (winners need not be present). Early-bird raffle and carnival tickets may be purchased at the temple office. Prizes include a television, a bicycle and restaurant and museum gift certificates.

The Shop Israel Fair will feature many vendors offering "100 percent made-in-Israel" merchandise. Products will include jewelry, cosmetics, giftware, fine art, painted silks, T-shirts, ceramic Judaica, and painted wood home furnishings.
