Administrative building to get facelift in Westlake

Westlake Village city council members approved at a recent meeting a proposal to remodel the Westlake Lake Management Administrative (WLMA) office building. It will include an addition to the existing 855-square-foot hexagonal-shaped building at 32353 Triunfo Canyon Road.

While the extra office space is necessary for the efficient operation of WLMA, according to proponents, the proposed plan includes modification to the building’s exterior with aesthetic improvements that more accurately reflect existing architectural styles and live up to the city’s high standards.

Additions include a 951-square-foot covered deck around the perimeter of the structure to replace the existing 490-square-foot deck. The plans also include an 805-square-foot basement area to accommodate a new workshop, office and rest-room.

The office building is situated on top of a 45-degree slope, and architect Ronald Aarons has proposed to excavate under the existing building to add basement space.

Additional administrative office space will alleviate the current overcrowding. The shop area will provide indoor storage for supplies that are used by lake maintenance crews.

Utilizing the existing roofline, the addition will consist of an entire new mix of materials and colors, including a new standing-seam copper roof. The building will also have new wood siding with precast white columns encircling the deck and supporting cultured-stone archways.
