Dole becomes title sponsor of Great Race

Dole Food Company in Westlake Village has become the title sponsor of Las Virgenes’ largest community event, the Great Race of Agoura.

A major sponsor of the race for several years, Dole has taken its commitment to another level, signing on as the title sponsor through 2006, officially making the name "The Dole Great Race."

"Dole is committed to helping Americans live healthier and fuller lives through better nutrition and fitness," said Marty Ordman, vice president of marketing services, adding that the company is pleased that proceeds from the race benefit local schools.

The event, scheduled for Sat., March 20, includes a 5K, 10K, Kids Mile, Family Fun Run and the new Chesebro Half Marathon.

The presenting sponsor is Neftin Westlake Car Company, the the largest financial supporter in the event’s 18-year history.

"We’re very thankful for Howie Neftin’s continuous support," said Traci Greenberg, race director of the 19th annual event. "Not only is he a financial sponsor, but he donates pace cars and helps promote the event."

Other major sponsors include RE/MAX Olson & Associates, West Hills Medical Center, the Agoura Hills/Calabasas Community Center, JCC of Greater L.A., Shalom Institute and JCC of Conejo Valley, Evolution Audio & Video; Los Angeles Sports & Fitness Magazine, Oak Park Dentistry for Children, Camp Kinneret, Sunny Skies Summer Day Camp, Wood Ranch BBQ & Grill.

Proceeds from the event benefit six local elementary schools as well as the track and cross-country programs at Oak Park and Agoura high schools.
