Three students have been chosen as winners of the "SpringFest Logo Design Contest" sponsored by the Agoura Hills Department of Community Services.
Liana Moss, a third-grade student from Yerba Buena Elementary School, claimed the first-place honor. Moss’s logo design will be used throughout the year on city brochures, newsletters, signs and other pieces that will promote the theme "Celebrating the Arts." The spring issue of the recreation department’s brochure will feature the design on its front cover.
Mary Diamond, a fifth-grade student from St. Jude’s Catholic School in Westlake Village, was named the second-place winner in the contest, and Devyn Flaherty, a fifth-grader from Willow Elementary School in Agoura Hills captured third place for her design.
The three winning students were honored with certificates and T-shirts embellished with their logo designs.
According to Agoura Hills Mayor Dan Kuperberg, the city received more than 400 entries. Five classrooms won ice cream parties for having 100 percent participation.
The fifth annual SpringFest, said Kuperberg, gives people a chance to enjoy Agoura Hills. The festivities on Sun., April 25, he said, will include an obstacle course, laser tag, pony rides, a "push-pull parade" and a giant slide, among other attractions.
The logo design contest ties in with the annual Rotary Youth Fair at SpringFest. Students ages 5 to 18 are invited to showcase their creative artwork––including art, ceramics, photography, drafting, and wood and metal work––to be exhibited at SpringFest.
The Rotary Youth Fair is open to all students in local schools. There’s no cost to enter. Requirements include submitting art or a project that was completed within the last two years. Items must have been made by the youngster, and a completed entry form must be attached to the art or project.
Award ribbons will be given to all entrants and there will be drawings for prizes.
