Westlake
Village to party

The city of Westlake Village will host its inaugural "City Celebration Day" with a series of day-long festivities on Sat., Oct. 25. Events will include a pancake breakfast and family parade at Berniece Bennett Park and a White Oak Elementary Fun Fair with bouncy house, rock climb, rides, carnival booths and food court at the Westlake Village Civic Center, 31200 Oak Crest Drive, Westlake Village. Proceeds from the rides and carnival booths will go to White Oak Elementary School in Westlake Village.

An 11-piece ensemble of the New West Symphony conducted by Maestro Boris Brott will perform at 7 p.m. at the Civic Center. During the one-hour concert the ensemble will perform several songs including a medley of Western movie themes, Beethoven’s "Symphony No. 9," "Ode to Joy," Schichstein’s "Rock Trap," Handel’s "Queen of Sheba" and Williams’ "Olympic Fanfare." Seating is available for the first 500 people, or bring a blanket, lawn chair and picnic dinner.
