Volunteers sought to lead nature hikes

The Children’s Nature Institute (CNI) invites people interested in sharing their love of nature with young children to train as a CNI volunteer walk leader. Volunteer training will be offered from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturdays, Oct. 18 and 25 and Nov. 1, 8 and 15 at Temescal Canyon in the Pacific Palisades.

During the training sessions, participants will learn about local plants, mammals, insects, birds, reptiles and Native Americans from expert naturalists and educators; learn to lead nature walks for infants through 8-year-olds and their families (choose from more than 80 trails throughout Los Angeles and Ventura counties); and learn to lead educational field trips for underprivileged children.

Children age 6 and up may train with a parent to become a "Kid Leading Kids." For more information or to request an application, please call (310) 998-1151.
