Water district boardmembers don’t agree

In his letter to the editor this past week Vern Padgett has once again shown he does not have command with the facts or the truth.

1. His scheme to convert biosolids to fertilizer has been shown, by studies paid for by the district, not only to be more costly than composting but has never been proven as a viable process. The promises of profits from sludge disposal are a figment of his septuagenarian imagination.

2. The new cooperative relationship with Triunfo Sanitation District means one thing. Las Virgenes customers pay for services provided and facilities built for Triunfo customers. Then watch your rates rise. My position is that Triunfo should pay their own bills and work cooperatively to meet the many challenges we have in providing quality services.

3. At no time have I or anyone on our board committed to raising sewage rates. I have only expressed concerns that the water rate payers who do not have a sewer connection are now paying for some of sewer services costs. Areas include Monte Nido, Malibou Lake, Cornell Road, Cold Creek and Stokes Canyon. Padgett’s response has been "Let them eat cake."
