Many groups have enhanced the education of kids in Calabasas I have been asked to clarify an apparent misunderstanding contained within your July 4 story about the Calabasas Education Commission. Your readers should understand that the city of Calabasas is very proud of the broad range of education-related programs that have been established by the city over the years. These efforts have been funded by city councils that have been committed to maintaining the high quality of community life. These efforts have been supported by the advice of a number of commissions and citizen volunteers. Among these are the following: • Communication & Technology Commission •Community Policing Commission • Environmental Commission • Library Commission • Parks and Recreation Commission • Planning Commission • Traffic and Transportation Commission • Tree Board Each of these groups have played an important roll in maintaining the uniquely high quality of community services enjoyed by Calabasas residents, one that is the envy of many of our neighboring cities. The new Education Commission is, of course, the newest member to this community service team. Lastly, I would be negligent to not also recognize the fine professional city employee staff support that is also reflected in the city’s educational programs. Donald R. Duckworth City Manager, Calabasas |
