Jewish New Year preparations

Conejo Jewish Academy will host a lecture, "Standing at the Crossroads—the Past, the Present, the Future," at 8 p.m. Wed., Aug. 14 at 30345 Canwood St., Agoura Hills. Guest speaker is Rabbi Dr. J. Immanuel Schochet of Toronto, Canada, author of numerous books on Jewish mysticism, Chassidism and philosophy.

His lecture will focus on how one prepares spiritually and emotionally for the Jewish New Year; how much "baggage of the past" does one carry ; and how one can shape and mold one’s future. The lecture will also focus on the Kabbalistic understanding of past sins and repentance.
