Local rabbi earns an honor


HONORED--Rabbi Alan Greenbaum, center, was awarded the doctor of divinity degree, honoris causa, by Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion for his 25 years of service during the commencement exercises of the 127th academic year of the institution. Rabbi Alan Greenbaum of Temple Adat Elohim, Thousand Oaks, was awarded a doctor of divinity degree, honoris causa, by Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion (HUC-JIR) for 25 years of service at the commencement exercises of the 127th academic year of the institution.

Founded in 1875, HUC-JIR is the nation’s oldest institution of higher Jewish education and the academic, spiritual and professional development center of Reform Judaism.
