Support for stay-at-home moms

A local chapter of the international nonprofit organization "Mothers & More" is forming to serve the Conejo Valley and surrounding areas.

The group’s first meeting will be at 7:30 p.m. Thurs., Aug. 8 at Cameron Center, 288 Green-meadow Drive, Thousand Oaks.

Mothers & More is described as an organization supporting "sequencing women," mothers who have altered their career paths to care for their children at home.

The group provides a chance for these women "to establish supportive friendships by meeting other sequencing mothers, forming playgroups, attending informational meetings and receiving bimonthly newsletters," according to member Diane Read.

Founded in 1987, Mothers & More addresses women’s personal needs and interests during their active parenting years and also advocates for public and employment policies that accommodate "sequencing."
