Jog-A-Thon features a
patriotic theme this year

More than 650 students dressed in red, white and blue T-shirts will participate in the patriotic theme of Westlake Elementary School’s annual Jog-A-Thon from 8:30 a.m. to noon on Fri., March 15 on the campus at 1571 E. Potrero Road, Westlake Village.

This year’s event will emphasize fun and cooperation rather than competition. Students will meet local firefighters, run an obstacle course and enjoy music provided by DJ Joe Hecht.

The event raises money for the many services and programs provided by the school’s Parent Faculty Association, including music, art and technology specialists, supplies and equipment.

Student prizes include new bicycles and a chance to be "Teacher for a Day" and "Principal for a Day." Principal Carol Philips has agreed to dye her hair blue if the students reach a goal of $20,000.

For more information, please call Karyn Hagy, the event’s chair, at (805) 379-2686.
