Ballet, bluegrass will be presented in CSUN performances

State Street Ballet will present "Alice in Wonderland" at 2 and 5 p.m. on Sun., March 17 in the Performing Arts Center at California State University Northridge (CSUN).

Emmy Award-winner Robert Sund has choreographed an original production of "Alice in Wonderland" with music by Jean Sibelius and sets and costumes by designer Daniel Nyiri. The story of the ballet is derived from Lewis Carroll’s "Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland" and "Through the Looking Glass."

The Laurie Lewis Trio with Tom Rozum will appear in concert at 8 p.m. on Fri., March 22 in the Performing Arts Center. Lewis has long been a key figure in bluegrass, traditional country and folk music circles.

She’s a singer/songwriter as well as championship fiddler, and has toured and recorded with many of the greats of bluegrass and traditional country music. Rozum primarily plays mandolin with the band and is also a lead vocalist and harmony partner of Lewis.

Ticket prices for both the State Street Ballet and Laurie Lewis Trio range from $10 to $19.50 and available by calling (818) 677-2488.

The Performing Arts Center is in the Student Union Complex on Zelzah Avenue, between Prairie and Plummer streets in Northridge.
