Quilts on display at Stagecoach
Hobbyists invited

Stagecoach Inn Museum will display quilts from the 1890s through the 1910s in a special exhibit from 1 to 4 p.m. on Sat. and Sun., March 16 and 17 in the Inn and Timber Schoolhouse on the Inn’s grounds at 51 S. Ventu Park Road, Newbury Park.

These quilts are on loan from area residents and display a broad range of materials, patterns and sewing techniques.

Touring the entire museum complex and viewing the quilts is included in the entrance fee of $3 adults, $2 seniors and $1 per child.

The Hamish Amish Quilters, a quilting guild from the San Fernando Valley, will present some of their quilts illustrating the themes "Women in History" and "Ellis Island Immigration" from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sun., March 17 in the Inn’s Anderson Hall. Their quilts have appeared on the television show "20/20" and in the book "Imagery on Fabric: A Complete Surface Design Handbook" by Jean Ray Laury. There will also be a lecture by appraiser Amanda Baker on "Quilt Care and Repair."

The presentation and lecture are open to quilters, history buffs and anyone interested in learning more about a fascinating handicraft. The cost is $5 at the door and reservations aren’t required.
