‘Les Miserables’ returns

LEGENDARY MUSICAL--Aymee Garcia and J.P. Dougherty perfom a scene from "Les Miserables," the legendary musical playing soon at the Civic Arts Plaza in the city of Thousand Oaks.

Based on Victor Hugo’s classic novel, "Les Miserables" is an epic saga that sweeps through three turbulent decades of 19th Century France. It’s also the story of one man, the fugitive Jean Valjean, who’s pitted against the cruel and self-righteous Inspector Javert in a lifelong struggle.

Alain Boublil and Claude-Michel Schonberg transformed "Les Miserables" into an award-winning musical that’s played for 16 years in London and 15 years on Broadway. It makes a return engagement from Tues., Oct. 16 to Sun., Oct. 21 at the T.O. Civic Arts Plaza, where the $4.2 million production replicates the Broadway version in its entirety.

Tickets for "Les Miserables" range from $49.50 to $59.50 and are on sale now at the Civic Arts Plaza box office and all TicketMaster outlets. Curtain times are 7:30 p.m. Tuesday to Sunday; with 2 p.m. weekend matinees. To charge tickets by phone, please call (805) 583-8700. For more information, visit www.lesmis.com.
