Calabasas was going to support Pumpkin Festival

The Aug. 16 letter from Alan Unger, heaping shame on the Calabasas City Council for not supporting the annual Pumpkin Festival, was based on a falsehood. Apart from Dennis Washburn, who recused himself due to a financial conflict of interest, the city council voted unanimously to make our usual $25,000 contribution this year.

The Calabasas Parks and Recreation Commission, Arts Council, Environmental Commission and Tree Board are each organizing several events for October and November, celebrating our city’s 10th anniversary and the pumpkin season, and promoting environmental issues and awareness.

Our city will continue to support community events to bring all of our citizens together.
