Heart Association names new executive director

The American Heart Association, Western States Affiliate has appointed Jason Weaver as executive director of the Conejo Valley/Las Virgenes Division.

Previously, Weaver served as senior social market director of the L.A. office.

Weaver achieved 137 percent of his fundraising goals last year, increased the fundraising of top community events by 57 percent, and was recently appointed as a delegate to lobby the federal government on behalf of the Heart Association.

His nonprofit career began with the Muscular Dystrophy Association of Santa Barbara in 1996. In 1997, Weaver was rated the No. 1 director in the Western U.S.

Weaver has a bachelor of arts degree in political science from the U.C. Santa Barbara.

From Camarillo, the office raises funds to promote education and support research to reduce the risk of heat disease and stroke.

Among the annual fundrais-ing events are a golf tournament, Heart Walk, gala, Women’s Legacy luncheon and "Jump Rope and Hoops for Heart."
