September events set by Wellness

The Wellness Community, Valley/Ventura offers ongoing programs and support groups for people with cancer and their families and/or caregivers. Offered at no cost, the programs aim to educate, inform, comfort and encourage cancer patients in their fight for recovery.

All programs are at the Wellness Community, 530 Hampshire Road, Westlake Village and are open to cancer patients and their families.

Among the special programs offered during September are the following:

The Artist’s Way Workshop: This special workshop is based on Julia Cameron’s book, "The Artist’s Way," and aims to encourage expression of personal creative energies and help to give expression to what cancer patients are feeling during this time in their lives. It is held from 8:30 to 10 a.m. on Saturdays, Sept. 8, 22 and 29. To register, please call (805) 379-4777.

Nutrition Workshop: From 7 to 9 p.m. on Thurs., Sept. 13, registered dietician Deborah Klein, M.S., will present "Immune Boosting Foods," an interactive, information-packed workshop that will teach attendees how to eat a nutrition-dense diet.

Kids’ Circle: This is a four-week series for children ages 5 to 12 to learn and share with other children who also have a parent or grandparent with cancer. Adult family members meet in a separate group with other adults who have similar concerns. Presented from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Saturdays, Sept. 22, 29 and Oct. 6 and 13. Registration is required and can be made by calling (805) 379-4777.
