Pagan Pride Day celebrated Pagan Pride Day will be celebrated from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sat., Sept. 15 at Woodley Park in Van Nuys. People of all ages and spiritual backgrounds are welcome. The event will include information booths, vendors, entertainers, rituals and other activities celebrating the Autumn Equinox, a time of thanksgiving in many pagan traditions. An item of clothing or non-perishable food will be accepted as admission and donated to the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank, Beyond Shelter and the Upward Bound House, Santa Monica. The International Pagan Pride Project is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the elimination of prejudice and religious discrimination through education, activism, charity and community. Modern Paganism, or Neo-Paganism, is a growing religious movement based on combinations of ancient polytheism, modern eco-spirituality and reverence for the Divine as both masculine and feminine. Most pagans enjoy a religion emphasizing respect for nature, humanity and oneself. For more information about the event or about pagan religions, please call Brian Ewing at (310) 559-7617. |
