Brockovich to speak at convention

The 44th annual Professionals in Human Resources Association (PIHRA) Conference will be Sept. 20 and 21 at the Long Beach Convention Center.

Among the keynote speakers is Erin Brockovich, who (along with Thousand Oaks attorney and City Councilman Ed Masry) was celebrated in the eponymous Oscar-winning film that documented her efforts to help ailing residents of the toxic-tainted town of Hinkley, Calif. have their day in court against polluter PG&E.

Sixty workshop/seminars covering a variety of human resources-related topics will be offered. Attendees will have a series of 10 special track programs to choose from including virtual HR, senior HR, legal issues, compensation and benefits, organizational development, training, recruiting and retention, personal growth, HR fundamentals, and diversity.

PIHRA is a nonprofit organization that provides a forum for professionals involved in human resource functions. With more than 4,300 members representing 2,200 companies in Southern California, PIHRA serves Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino and Ventura counties.
