Agoura Hills development continues The 255,300 square-foot Agoura Ladyface Village Center, site of a proposed controversial Home Depot store, isn’t the only retail and commercial development planned for Agoura Hills. According to city officials, more than 500,000 square feet of new construction is either finished or about to be completed in the city. The development includes almost 300,000 square feet of office buildings and 37,000 square feet of retail stores and restaurants (including the new Chuy’s and Islands restaurants at Agoura and Kanan roads.) Also under construction is a new synagogue and city hall/library on Agoura Road. An additional 300,000 square feet of construction is in the early stages or will begin soon. These projects include another 250,000 square feet of offices, more retail buildings and a 94-room Hampton Inn hotel. Within two years, Agoura Hills planners expect to complete the Agoura Village Specific Plan, a development blueprint for a pedestrian-friendly "downtown" shopping area with shops and stores along Agoura Road between Kanan and Cornell roads. The Ladyface Village Center, south of the 101 Freeway, and Agoura Riverwalk, another office and retail center just north of the freeway, are still in the planning stages. |
